HA NOI – Personal desk-top computers manufactured by Chinese multinational Lenovo Group will be withdrawn from the Viet Nam market due to overheating and fire concerns.
The problems were a failure in the PCs' power supply, said the Viet Nam Competition Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The authority said Lenovo (Singapore) Pte.Ltd, a subsidiary of Lenovo Group, had volunteered the information about the computers, the ThinkCenter M90z and ThinkCenter M70x, produced from May, 2010, to November, 2011.
The company was withdrawing them along with 160,000 computers world-wide. The computers can be identified by their serial numbers.
Those people who have already bought one of the computers can have the power supply replaced at no cost as long as they contact their supplier within 12 months.
Vietnamese consumers can contact Lenovo representative offices during working hours in Ha Noi and in HCM City. – VNS
