HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Finance and the New Zealand Treasury signed a memorandum of financial co-operation on Thursday.

The memorandum is within the framework of bilateral co-operation between the two governments.

Deputy Minister of Finance Trần Xuân Hà said the signing played an important role in organising and concretising co-operation activities between the two sides.

It was the basis for the deployment of New Zealand working and technical assistance relationships with Việt Nam.

In addition, the signing would enhance dialogue and co-operation between the two sides in areas of mutual interest, especially budget, fiscal and debt management, macroeconomic stability and other economic-financial issues.

These are areas where New Zealand has strengths, which can support Việt Nam in researching, developing and implementing policies.

The signing comes shortly after Việt Nam and New Zealand upgraded their ties to a strategic partnership. — VNS
