ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city is seeking the best architectural designs out of 21 submissions to develop the new Cồn Market project after a public display was held on March 27, the city’s construction consultancy centre said.

It said the market, which was built 80 years ago and has undergone several decoration and upgrade projects, will cover 24,000sq.m with eight storeys and two underground levels.

The market design will include a three-storey building for the traditional market traders and a night cuisine area for tourism.

More than 2,000 households are trading in the old three-storey building at Cồn Market.

It’s one of the two longest-running markets in the city after the Hàn Market – a popular destination with tourists.

According to the design organising committee, The best design will be receiving a cash award of VNĐ400 million (US$17,400) at the final announcement later in April.
