HCM CITY — Food company Vissan yesterday (January 30) opened its first Vissan Premium store on Lê Thánh Tôn Street in HCM City’s District 1 and launched herb-fed pork.

Phan Văn Dũng, deputy general director of Vissan Joint Stock Company, said the new store would sell herb-fed pork and imported beef besides other fresh and high-grade processed foods of high quality that meet hygiene and food safety standards.

Herb-fed pigs are raised in closed modern farms and fed herbs instead of antibiotics to enhance resistance, which also means the meat has a light scent and sweet taste and no antibiotic residues.

The pork cuts are packed in various sizes and customers can scan the QR code on the packaging to trace their origin.

Dũng said the new store would sell around 200kg of herb-fed pork a day in the beginning and later increase supply by 15-20 per cent.

To mark the opening the store is offering a promotion until February 4, including gifts of a 150g can of pate to customers with bills of VNĐ100,000 and discounts of 5-8 per cent on dried and frozen processed foods.

“This is our first store under the Vissan Premium store chain and we will expand this model in the years to come,” Dũng said.

Last year Vissan produced 25,515 tonnes of fresh food, up 2 per cent over 2017, and 22,660 tonnes of processed items, a year-on-year increase of 19 per cent. — VNS
