HCM CITY – More and more companies are launching organic milk brands as demand for the product rises.

After Vinamilk and TH Milk Joint Stock Company, the pioneers, Dutch company FrieslandCampina began to import organic milk for distributing here.

Yet suppliers are struggling to keep up with demand. Mai Kiều Liên, general director of Vinamilk said the company’s organic dairy farm with 500 cows in Đà Lạt is not enough to meet the demand and it is working on increasing the number of farms in Đà Lạt and Thanh Hoá.

TH Milk Joint Stock Company also aims to increase the number of head of cows producing organic milk. The company said that the due to the high costs of production and processing, its organic milk products are still relatively expensive, but the growing scale could drive prices down in future.

A spokesperson for an unidentified company that imports organic milk told Người Lao Động newspaper that the market would become more competitive in the future.

They also said that organic milk buyers are selective and do careful research before choosing a brand, and are unlikely to switch brands due to prices. – VNS
