HCM CITY — Nguyễn Thành Phong, chairman of HCM City People’s Committee, and Mitazono Satoshi, the Governor of Japan’s Kagoshima prefecture, met on January 16 to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in tourism, food processing and high-tech agriculture.

He said that such programmes would promote ties between the two localities, thus deepening of Việt Nam and Japan friendship.

Satoshi said he was impressed with the development of Việt Nam, especially HCM City, and noted that HCM City had created favourable conditions for Kagoshima’s firms in trade and investment, especially in important sectors in Kagoshima Prefecture like tourism and agriculture.

He said the prefecture would support the application of information technology and high-tech agriculture, and welcome Vietnamese apprentices for study and research in seafood processing.

Because the Kagoshima prefecture is a gateway connecting Japan with Southeast Asia, Phong said he would like enterprises and investors from Kagoshima as well as Japan to invest in more projects and cooperate in economy and trade, education and tourism.

Satoshi also wants to organise exchange meetings to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between two localities. — VNS
