Cần Thơ will call investment to many sectors in 2018, including logistics. — Photo bnews.vn

CẦN THƠ — Cần Thơ will focus on investment and trade promotion activities in key countries, including the United States, Japan and South Korea, this year.

Nguyễn Khánh Tùng, director of Cần Thơ Trade, Investment Promotion and Exhibition Centre, said this at a conference on plans of investment and trade promotion, trade fair and exhibition this year, held by the centre in Cần Thơ City on January 2.

Tùng said Cần Thơ will focus on attracting investment in large projects, including a logistics centre, the Việt Nam-Japan Industrial Park in Cần Thơ, a concentrated information technology zone and a high-tech agricultural zone.

In particular, this year, the city will push for investment in the Việt Nam-South Korea Incubator Park, specialising in information technology.

In addition, Cần Thơ will hold 15 events that promote investment in its hi-tech agriculture sector in Lâm Đồng Province, HCM City and Đồng Tháp Province and introduce Cần Thơ’s investment environment, policies, potential and opportunities to investors in the United States, Japan and South Korea.

During the conference, Trương Quang Hoài Nam, vice chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said the centre sould seek cooperation with other departments and sectors to develop the city’s trade and investment promotion activities.

Last year, Cần Thơ City attracted 77 foreign direct investment projects with total capital of US$656 million.

Meanwhile, trade promotion activities also helped Cần Thơ increase its revenue from exports and services to $1.77 billion in 2017, 13.9 per cent and 5.9 per cent higher than the yearly plan of 2017. — VNS
