HA NOI (VNS) — The World Bank's Board of Governors approved an additional fund of US$45 million for a project ‘Improving the competitive capability and food safety' in Vietnam on June 27.

Vo Thanh Son, senior expert on rural development at the WB and a team leader of the project, said the additional funding is aimed at consolidating the project's initial achievements and expanding good agricultural practices to other localities.

The project was first approved in September 2009, with the International Development Association providing $65.26 million and the Government of Viet Nam contributing $13.77 million. — VNS
