HA NOI (VNS) — Blue chips were unable to pull the markets up due to a lack of market information and weakened capital flows.
On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index declined 0.22 per cent to end at 561.25 points.
The market was mixed with 80 gainers, 110 decliners and 117 stocks remained flat.
Market liquidity continued to fall. The trading volume fell 16.7 per cent to 76.3 million shares worth VND1.33 trillion (US$61.6 million), which was a decrease of 12.5 per cent.
The VN30 Index, tracking the 30 largest codes by market value and liquidity, also dropped by 0.22 per cent to end at 592.71 points.
The basket had a balanced performance with 10 advancers, 11 losers and 9 flat.
After having a positive performance on Wednesday, both HCM City Infrastructure Investment JSC (CII) and Duc Long Gia Lai Group JSC (DLG) fell by 6.9 per cent to reach ceiling prices of VND21,500 and VND9,400, respectively.
CII was the most active stock with more than 6.9 million shares being traded and DLG traded more than 3 million of its shares.
Gas stocks gained slightly. Petrovietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation (PVD) was the only large-cap gas stock that gained at 0.9 per cent. Other small and medium-cap gas stocks fluctuated around their reference prices.
Bank stocks showed a mixed performance. Only Military Bank (MBB) and Vietinbank (CTG) gained 0.74 and 0.57 per cent. Sacombank (STB) dropped by 2.3 per cent. Other bank stocks stayed flat.
FLC Group (FLC) ended flat after fluctuating around its latest close-price in the previous session.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index decreased by 0.3 per cent to finish at 82.65 points. The northern market was also mixed with 83 gainers, 112 losers and 172 flat stocks.
Market liquidity improved compared to Wednesday with more than 42.7 million shares being traded worth VND532.7 billion ($24.6 million), an increase of 16.4 per cent.
The HNX30 Index lost 0.21 per cent to stand at 157.2 points. In this basket, nine stocks advanced, 13 declined and eight stayed unchanged.
Post & Telecommunication Joint Stock Insurance Corporation (PTI) was up 9.74 per cent to reach the ceiling price of VND16,900. KLF Joint Venture Global Investment JSC (KLF) ended flat and remained the most active code on the northern bourse with 12.5 million of its shares traded.
FIT Investment JSC (FIT) traded nearly 4.3 million of its shares and decreased by 0.68 per cent in value to stand at VND14,500.
Large-cap gas stocks such as Petroleum Drilling Mud Corporation (PVC) and Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PVS) gained 0.43 and 1.17 per cent, respectively.
Foreign investors totaled a net buying value of VND188.38 billion ($8.72 million) on both markets, an increase of 15 per cent compared to the previous session. — VNS
