HA NOI (VNS)  — The management centre of the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable has detected a new cut in the cable about 68 kilometres off Hong Kong.

The location of the new cut in the cable is reportedly four kilometres away from that of the earlier cut. The centre expects to complete all repairs by October 3.

The older cut in the cable is expected to be fixed by 9pm on September 29. The new cut will be welded by 8pm on October 1 and is projected to be fully repaired by 7am on October 3.

Earlier, on September 16, the cable was found cut 64 kilometres off Hong Kong. The mishap has reduced the speed of the Internet connectivity between Viet Nam and the other countries. — VNS
