Update: March, 10/2014 - 08:50

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai broke ground for the construction of the Vinh Tan No. 4 thermal power plant yesterday, the main facility of the Vinh Tan Power Centre in Binh Thuan Province. Located in Vinh Tan Commune in Binh Thuan's Tuy Phong District – some 250km from HCM City - the two-turbine 1,200MW Vinh Tan No 4 Plant is projected to generate around 7.2 billion kWh for the national grid annually. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Hai said construction of the Vinh Tan No 4 Plant is of significant importance because it would help to ensure a safe and sufficient power supply for southern localities and reduce losses for the country's electricity sector. "When construction of all four plants is completed, the centre's total output will amount to 5,600 MW, making Binh Thuan Province one of the largest power centres in the country," said Hai. — VNS Photo Ngoc Ha
