Central bank refutes banknote change

Update: April, 23/2013 - 09:59

HA NOI (VNS)— The State Bank of Viet Nam yesterday rejected rumours that it is considering changing the banknotes.

"We can confirm that we have no intention of making such a move. There will not be any changes to the banknotes currently in circulation," the central bank announced on its website.

It noted that the value of the dong was now quite stable and the structure of money in circulation was still suitable. "We can also confirm that we have no plans to issue banknotes with a face value of VND1 million (US$47.6)." — VNS
