Update: March, 26/2013 - 10:05

HCM CITY (VNS)— Viet Nam is a country with significant development potential and investment opportunities that they are keen to take advantage of, members of visiting South African business delegation said last week.

Do Thi Kim Lien, the South African Honorary Consul in HCM City, said South Africa and Viet Nam has potential for co-operation in many fields, especially in the agricultural sector.

A Vietnamese business delegation will visit South Africa in August, looking for trade and investment opportunities, she said.

Bilateral trade between the two countries has increased strongly in the past years, from US$192 million in 2007 to $723 million last year.

Last year, Viet Nam earned $612 million from exports to South Africa, up six times compared to 2007. — VNS
