Nation enjoys trade surplus with Indonesia during 2012
HA NOI (VNS)— Viet Nam enjoyed a trade surplus of US$110.18 million with Indonesia as bilateral trade turnover reached $4.605 billion last year.
The Viet Nam Embassy's Trade Mission in Indonesia estimates that exports there totaled $2.358 billion and imports from the country were worth more than $2.247 billion.
Rice was the top staple with $458.392 million, followed by cell phones and components ($315.122 million), steel ($288.948 million) and crude oil ($128.746 million).
Import items of high value included papers ($232.789 million), oils and fats ($142.109 million), machinery and equipment, tools and other spare parts ($135.679 million), computers, electronic products and components (US$134.368 million), chemicals ($119.440 million) and metals ($106.740 million).
The nation's first trade surplus with Indonesia hit $111.345 million in 2011, with exports accounting for nearly $2.359 billion and imports making up $2.248 billion.-VNS
