HA NOI -(VNS) Up to 13 auto enterprises attended a five-day auto event today in Ha Noi.

The auto enterprises are Mercedes, Honda, Audi, Porsche, Ford, Mitsubishi, Renault, Land Rover, BMW, Suzuki and Vinaxuki.

With the title "Viet Nam Motor Show 2012" (VMS), the biggest auto exhibition so far in Viet Nam has also attracted thousands of visitors.

According to the exhibition organiser, chairman Laurent Carpentier of Viet Nam Automobile Manufacturers' Association (VAMA) said that by introducing new cars at the event, the association hoped to boost auto sales, which have been in a slump since 2011. The event would also strengthen relations between clients and auto distributors.

At the event, many new cars were marketed, including the two-seat car Toyota 86, five-seat Mercedes GLK 300, five-seat Ford Focus, and compact Mitsubishi Mirage.

Mercedes Benz Viet Nam CEO Michael Behrens said thousands of people were at the fair, signaling that the market might do well during the next three months.

Many producers of vehicle accessories such as engine oil also attended the fair to find sales opportunities.

A meeting tomorrow will focus on ways the auto market can recover. - VNS
