DA NANG (VNS)— Viet Nam has seen rapid telecommunication growth in recent years, so much so that the country was assigned to host the 1st Meeting of the Asia Pacific Telecomunity (APT) Conference Preparatory Group for the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference, said APT's general secretary Toshiyuki Yamada.
Speaking at the opening session in central Da Nang City yesterday, Yamada stressed that the meeting was held to prepare for the 2015 World Radiocommuni-cation Conference (WRC-15) and increase comunication between ATP members in the region.
The two-day meeting began the preparatory process for WRC-15 and World Radiocommunication Assembly 2015 (RA-15).
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Le Nam Thang said that radiocommunication has played an important role in the social-economic development of Viet Nam.
"The meeting will be a chance for participants to discuss the future development of radiocommunication not only in the region, but worldwide," he said.
"The rapid development of new technology in recent years requires countries to create policies to deal with increasing demand for radio frequency."
He also highly appreciated the role of APT in preparing for the World Radiocommunication conference in 2015.
The meeting, which has drawn 230 deputies from countries worldwide, will be followed by the 13th Meeting of the APT Wireless Group tomorrow. — VNS
