Developers under investigation

Ha Noi – Ha Noi Department of Natural Resources and Environment will inspect 60 alleged major breaches of land laws by the end of the year.

Inspectors will not only tackle violations but also projects that have been endlessly delayed.

The department has already asked Ha Noi authorities to reclaim 81ha of land from 11 businesses and organisations for failing to start work or using the land for wrong purposes and 80ha of the land in question is located in Thach That district.

The Ha Noi People's Committee has also asked relevant agencies to report on land projects in Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Tay Ho and Tu Liem. According to the initial reports, 19 out of 33 projects have failed to proceed.

Investors left the land intact, but another 10 projects have been allegedly used for wrong purposes.

The department has had meetings with district people's committees to discuss measures to speed up project implementation and paying compensation to residents forced to move.

Three of the biggest alleged breaches of the land laws involve 185,368 square metres of land for housing projects in Cau Giay and Nam Trung Yen involving the Ha Noi Housing Development and Investment Company, 61,568 square metres of new urban areas in My Dinh-Me Tri involving Da River Construction Company and 50,575 square metres of residential area in south of Tran Duy Hung road involving the Viet Nam Construction and Export-Import Joint Stock- Vinaconex – VNS.
