HA NOI — Japanese group Coccolo is providing the Vietnamese company Hanel with the technology to produce the world's first third-generation lithium-ion batteries from magnesium extracted from sea water.
This was the most advanced technology in the field and it was being transferred solely to Viet Nam, said Coccolo president Kazuyuki Toyosato at a recent signing ceremony in Tokyo.
These rechargeable batteries manufactured by Hanel will be shipped to Japan.
Magnesium batteries were environmentally-friendly and helped conserve energy while the ocean's magnesium reserves were virtually limitless, Yabe said. — VNS
