HA NOI – Officers from the capital city's taxation office have recovered VND100 billion (US$4.7million) after uncovering a series of tax frauds in the first quarter, announced the Ha Noi taxation office.
During inspections, the office discovered many tax violations implemented by city enterprises. Officers said the addition of stricter and more frequent tax inspections helped avoid hundreds of billion of dong in losses to the State budget.
The office's deputy head Thai Dung Tien said the inspections and checks had been implemented since early this year based on an analysis of tax payers and their business data, adding that there would be more inspections in the coming time.
Most of the violations were found among key enterprises, enterprises with foreign direct investment, and enterprises which reported business failures.
Tax officers also finished tax procedures for enterprises that have ceased operations to ensure a cleaner tax map. – VNS
