Hai Phong keen to attract Japanese investment

HAI PHONG — A Japanese business delegation on a visit to the northern city of Hai Phong was told by local authorities that they would create more favourable conditions for Japanese investors, as well as upgrade infrastructure at local industrial parks.

The city has already attracted about 400 foreign-invested projects with combined registered capital of US$5.8 billion. Of these, 82 projects worth a combined $2.1 billion were Japanese-invested.

Hai Phong is also carrying out construction of a new six-lane highway connecting the city with Ha Noi, scheduled for completion in 2014. By that year, the city will also begin construction of the first two wharves at the Lach Huyen International Gateway Port along with starting work on a new 3,000m runway at Cat Bi Airport-VNS
