HA NOI – Construction began yesterday on a stretch of National Highway 1A connecting the An Suong and An Lac intersection with the outskirts of HCM City.
Project contractor the Infrastructure Development Investment Company (Indico-Idc) said the work will include construction of 20kms of a road partition along the highway and two flyovers at its intersections with provincial highway No 10 and No 10B.
The flyovers, 547m and 580m in length, have a life-span of 100 years and will ensure a safe surface for vehicles running at speeds of 60 to 80km per hour, according to Indico Idi, a subsidiary of the Viet Nam Urban Industrial Zone Investment and Development Corporation (Indico).
Indico-Idi's director Nguyen Hong Ninh said the VND700 billion project, which will be completed during the next 18 months, will include four separate lanes.
Vice Transport Minister Ngo Thinh Duc said the Government is encouraging investors to participate in transportation projects in a bid to increase the capacity of the national road network.
The project will operate under a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model and will be handed over to the Ministry of Transport during the next 22 years. – VNS
