WTO asked for help on dumping

Update: February, 24/2012 - 09:55

GENEVA — Viet Nam filed an official request for consultations with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to settle a dispute with the US, which introduced anti-dumping measures on frozen warm water Vietnamese shrimps last Monday.

Under WTO rules, a request for consultations formally initiates the settlement process between two member parties, giving them an opportunity to discuss the matter and negotiate a satisfactory solution without litigation.

After 60 days, if the consultations have failed to resolve the dispute, the complainant may request a judgement from a WTO panel.- VNS
