Update: February, 15/2012 - 14:39

HA NOI – The southern province of Bac Lieu announced this morning that construction would soon begin on a four lane bridge over Bac Lieu – Ca Mau River.

This 650 metre-long Rach Gia bridge, which will be paid for with government bonds, will link national route 1A to Dong Hai District, at a total estimated cost of approximately VND635 billion (US$30 billion).

The Civil Engineering Construction Corporation No 4 (Cienco 4) has been selected to erect the bridge, which is expected to ease commercial transportation after an 18 month construction period.

Rach Gia bridge is being heralded as a principal section of Provincial Route 980. The aim is to link national route 1A to the exclusive economic zone which includes Ganh Hao Port and Ganh Hao Town to improve socio-economic development in the province.

The bridge will connect Vinh Thuan Town with Kien Giang Province. – VNS
