HA NOI — Four investment projects worth VND26 trillion (US$1.23 billion) in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province were given the go ahead yesterday.
The four projects are the Nam Con Son No 2 drawing off pipe, the Phuoc Thang urban area, the Gelexim waterway and Phuoc An's nursery education centre for children with disabilities.
The projects make up 30 per cent of the targeted investment capital in the province this year.
Meanwhile, seven investors of the projects donated VND1.3 billion ($62,400) to local charities for the poor and disabled.
On the same day, provincial leaders met and congratulated investors on their projects' accomplishment over the period of time.
Last year, despite the global financial crisis, the province attracted 25 foreign-invested projects worth $950 million. A further 38 domestically- invested projects, worth $571 million were registered.
The additonal has brought total of licensed projects in the province as of last year to 714, worth $35.57 billion.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau authorities plan to organise investment promotion trips to foreign markets to attract investment in logistics, sea ports, support industries, human resources, tourism and services. — VNS
