Tây Ninh to develop 32,000ha forest

The Tây Ninh Province’s People’s Committee plans to increase forest coverage by 32,000 hectares by 2020 with total investment of VNĐ238 billion.

Of the amount, the State budget will contribute VNĐ171 billion. The rest will be invested by the private sector. The project will cover the Lò Gò – Xa Mát National Forest, Chàng Riệc Forest, Bà Đen Forest, and other areas.

Wild elephant threatens locals

A wild male elephant rushed out from the forest in Đồng Nai Province’s Vĩnh Cửu District and attacked the motorbike of a local farmer who ran off when he saw the elephant.

Farmer Nguyễn Văn Khang threw away his motorbike when the elephant approached him suddenly. The mature elephant has disturbed the area several times before.     

Phạm Văn Đồng, a local forest official, said that it emerged because of food shortage in the forest. The elephant belongs to a group of seven to 11 members.

More coaches to be mobilised for state holiday   

Coach stations in HCM City plan to add more buses and coaches to meet the increased travel demand for the three-day break on the occasion of the Hùng Kings Holiday.

Thượng Thanh Hải, Deputy Director of Southeastern Region Coach Station, said the station was expected to receive 45,000 turns of passengers per day, an increase of five per cent against last year.

The Southwestern Region Coach Station is expected to receive 50,000 turns of passengers per day. Trần Văn Phương, deputy director of the station, said 100 percent of vehicles registered at the station will be mobilised.
