Ministry adds seven to heritage list

Ministry awards status of national intangible cultural heritage to seven arts, cultural practices

The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism has given seven additional artistic and cultural practices the designation of national intangible cultural heritage.

 

They include bamboo handicraft in the Northern province of Bắc Ninh’s Xuân Lai village; Nghinh Ông (Whale Worshipping) festival in the southern province of Bến Tre; Cầu Ngư (Whale Worshipping) festival in Central city of Đà Nẵng; festivals to honour Lê Chân General and national hero Trương Định in the northern city of Hải Phòng; and the southern province of Tiền Giang, respectively; Ancient Thai scripts in the northern province of Sơn La; and Cái Răng flooding market in the southern city of Cần Thơ.

 

The head of the People’s Committee of each province will be responsible for state management of the cultural heritage.
