Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong has set up a special task force to uncover individual responsibility on the part of Viet Nam Railway Corporation executives in recommending and buying 160 old Chinese train carriages.
Once the investigation is wrapped up, the ministry said, it would punish the guilty.

Coast Guard seize ship with illegal coal dust
The Coast Guard seized a ship carrying 800 tonnes of coal dust illegally between Hai Phong and Quang Ninh on February 19.
Vessel VP-1434 had a three-member crew from the northern province of Hai Duong, who could not produce the licence required to transport the coal dust.

Speed on expressway changed to 120km/h
The Viet Nam Expressway Corporation announced that from February 20 vehicles can travel at a speed of up to 120km/h on the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway.
The 50km expressway opened to traffic in June 2012, and 25 million vehicles have safely used it so far.

Thanh Hoa gives needy total of VND29 billion
The central province of Thanh Hoa has allocated more funds to support poor people living in very difficult areas.
Under the decision, 125,588 poor people in remote, mountainous, and border areas and islands will each get VND80,000 ($3.5) per year, while 181,217 others in more difficult areas will get VND100,000 ($4.5) per person.
The total outlay this year is VND29 billion ($1.3 million).
