The country's first pilot eco-friendly livestock zone has been set up under the Livestock Competitiveness and Food Safety Project in Dong Nai Province's Thong Nhat District.
It has roads, drainage works and quarantine facilities built at a cost of VND19.5 billion (US$870,500), with VND17.5 billion ($781,200) coming from the World Bank.
It is aimed at protecting the environment and water resources, developing the livestock industry, managing the entire food chain and ensuring food safety and hygiene.

Long An children get vaccinated
The People' Committee of Long An Province on Tuesday said nearly 340,000 children aged one to 14 have got measles-rubella shots, accounting for 98.6 per cent of all children in the Mekong Delta province.
More than 99 per cent of children in Tan Hung District and Kien Tuong and Can Duoc towns have been immunised. The province has reported no case of the two diseases with serious side effects.

Central commune enjoys bumper fishing haul
Bao Ninh Commune in the central province of Quang Binh has had its most lucrative fishing year with local fishermen earning more than VND400 billion ($17.9 million) from exports alone, Nguyen Ngoc Hieu, head of the commune People's Committee, said.
Their total catch doubled year-on-year to 11,800 tonnes, of which 65 per cent was exported at high prices.
Also this year the commune provided credit to 17 fishermen to build or upgrade fishing vessels.
