More than 20 tonnes of fresh Cat Chu mangoes have been exported to Japan since the first batch sent to the country last month, said Nguyen Huu Dat, director of the Post-Import Plant Quarantine Centre No. 2 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Cat Chu mangoes are highly valued and demanded by Japanese consumers, according to Yasaka and Goodlife, two companies that export the mango to Japan.
The fruit is now being exported by sea to reduce transportation costs.

Dong Nai offers free Tet bus tickets
Thousands of free bus tickets will be given to disadvantaged workers in the southeast province of Dong Nai to return to their homes during Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, according to the province's Labour Confederation.
The confederation will sign contracts with prestigious transport companies to transport disadvantaged workers back to their hometowns on February 2 – 5.
More than 10 prestigious transport companies have registered to transport passengers from Dong Nai to the central and north regions during Tet, the Dong Nai Coach Station said on Sunday.

Soc Trang to develop Tran De industrial park
The Soc Trang Province People's Committee plans to develop Tran De Industrial Park (IP) on an area of 120ha in Tran De Town's Ngan Ro 1 Hamlet in Tran De District.
The industrial park will cost more than VND800 billion (US$36 million). The People's Committee plans to invest in the IP under the public-private partnership model.
