Binh Duong targets 5 million tourists

The southern province of Binh Duong targets 5 million visitors, including 43,000 international visitors, by the end of this year, according to the province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The province's tourism revenue is estimated to reach VND2.2 trillion (US$97.8 million) by the end of this year. The province targets tourism revenue of VND4.45 trillion ($197.8 million) by 2020, according to the department.

Imports, exports to reach $370b next year

Viet Nam's total exports and imports are expected to reach $370 billion next year, a rise of 10 per cent year-on-year. Of the figure, exports account for $182 billion and imports $188 billion.

Exports and imports reached $120.7 billion and $124.6 billion, respectively, in the first nine months of this year, a rise of 9.6 per cent and nearly 16 per cent, respectively, over the same period last year.

MOLISA proposes nine-day Tet 2016 holiday

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has proposed a nine-day Tet (Lunar New Year) 2016 holiday for government agencies and staff at state organisations.

According to the proposal submitted to the Government, the holiday period would be February 6 – 14 (from January 28 – February 7 according to the Lunar New Year calendar).

Customs tax collection reaches $9b

As of October 11, import and export customs taxes had reached VND198.6 trillion ($8.8 billion), or nearly 76.4 per cent of the year's estimate, according to the General Department of Customs. The department has encouraged its divisions to speed up administrative work to reach the estimated import/ export tax collection target of VND260 trillion ($11.5 billion) for 2015.
