Railway fares cut to promote tourism

Fares will be cut in half on train route STC1 from Sai Gon to the central province of Ninh Thuan and train STC2 from Ninh Thuan to Sai Gon on October 3 and 4, according to the Sai Gon Railway Passenger Transportation Company.

The decrease is to encourage tourists from HCM City and southwestern provinces to travel to Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan provinces.

The suggested destinations are Phan Thiet, Mui Ne and Hon Rom beaches of Binh Thuan Province and Vinh Hy Bay, Nam Cuong Sand Dune, Bau Truc pottery trade village and Cham Tower of Ninh Thuan Province.


HCM City to spend $31.2m on kindergartens

The HCM City People's Committee has agreed to build 14 public kindergartens for the city's outlying districts with total investment capital of nearly VND700 billion (US$31.1 million).

The kindergartens will be built in districts 8,12, Binh Tan, Thu Duc, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon and Cu Chi.


Viet Nam, Japan discuss transport projects

The Ministry of Transport and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Thursday had a discussion about two projects to build Xuyen A (trans-Asia) railway and Dau Giay – Lien Khuong highway.

The Xuyen A railway project needs total investment capital of VND77.82 trillion (US$3.4 billion) from Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Sai Gon – Loc Ninh and Bien Hoa – Vung Tau routes.

The Dau Giay – Lien Khuong highway should be divided into two sections. One section for Tan Phu – Bao Loc routes needs VND13.8 trillion ($627 million) from ODA, and a section for the Bao Loc – Lien Khuong route seeks a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract.
