Hospitals urged to boost vaccinations

The head of the Ministry of Health's Preventive Health Department, Tran Dac Phu, said the ministry has instructed hospitals nationwide to vaccinate more infants against hepatitis B within the first 24 hours after their birth.

These facilities should take the initiative to ensure conditions are safe for vaccination, he added.

The number of infants in the country getting the vaccine within the first 24 hours is low — around 60 per cent since the beginning of this year. In some areas it is only 25-30 per cent.
