The HCM City Social Insurance Agency and the city Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will provide health insurance for more than 62,300 people living just above the poverty line.
This will cost VND2.9 billion (US$131,000), and the process will be completed between October 1 and December 31.
According to the agency, 70 per cent of the city's population has health insurance coverage so far, and the People's Committee targets covering 76 per cent of the population by this year and 90 per cent by 2020.

VN, Thai firms meet in Ha Tinh Province
The People's Committee of the north-central province of Ha Tinh's organised a meeting between Vietnamese and Thai businesses on Wednesday.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed productivity, found partners and introduced to each other their products in fields like agriculture, pharmaceutics, handicrafts, and tourism.

Food safety department to watch moon cakes
The Administration for Food Safety and Hygiene will form six inspection teams to keep an eye on the moon cake market in 12 cities and provinces between August 31 and September 25.
They will check for hygiene and safety at production and selling places.

Drama group to perform for workers
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Committee is co-operating with the Viet Nam Drama Theatre to stage free shows for workers in Dong Nai and Binh Duong Provinces from August 21 to 23.
The theatre has staged comedy Benh Si (Egotism), one of the most famous plays written by Luu Quang Vu and featuring famous actors like Xuan Bac.
The organisers plan to give gifts to 30 disadvantaged workers during the event.
