Viet Nam became the third largest footwear exporter to the EU last year behind China and Italy, according to the Viet Nam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association.
Viet Nam earned $4.88 billion from exports to this market last year, an increase of 20.5 per cent year-on-year.
Viet Nam's major markets are France, Germany, Belgium, the UK, and Spain. France is the biggest importer, buying products worth $830 million, or 16.8 per cent of Viet Nam's total exports to the EU.

House insurance to be made compulsory
Insurance will be mandatory for civil residential buildings of seven floors or more, according to a decree being drafted by the Government.
The draft also requires large works requiring high technical standards, meeting specific technical requirements or complex construction conditions, or needing environmental impact assessment reports to be insured.

Indian infrastructure firm eyes aviation
Pricewaterhouse Cooper (PWC) has urged the Ministry of Transport to organise a meeting with India's GMR Group about investment in the aviation sector in Viet Nam.
GMR Group executives will visit Viet Nam at the end of this month to discuss investment in some airports.
According to PWC, GMR is renowned as one of India's leading companies in aviation infrastructure development and construction, having built two major airports in that country — Indira Gandhi International Airport and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
