The north-central coastal province of Quang Binh has spent more than VND1.9 trillion (US$87 million) to support fishermen in offshore fishing this year, according to the province's People's Committee. The money was used to upgrade or build 80 boats, and provide marine insurance to fishermen.
The province also plans to offer low-interest loans to help fishermen develop their business.

Students to travel the Ho Chi Minh Trail
More than 135 students from primary schools in HCM City this week participated in an adventure programme called I Love My Country- Viet Nam launched by the city's Youth Union. The participants, who were selected by their schools, will travel along the Truong Son trail, known as the Ho Chi Minh Trail, to discover historical sites like Truong Son Martyrs Cemetery and meet Heroic Mothers and veterans.
The programme will be organised every year for primary school students. The aim is to learn about the country's history and enhance respect for older generations, who made valuable contributions to the country's independence.

WB to fund water supply project
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has approved a US$20 million loan from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank's fund for the first phase of an Urban Water Supply and Wastewater project.
The project is divided into two segments. The first segment aims at upgrading water supply and wastewater drainage systems in 10 provinces across the country. The other will give technical support overseen by the Ministry of Construction and Ministry of Investment and Planning.
The project's total investment capital is $236.2 million, including $200 million from an IDA loan and $36.2 million from corresponding capital. The project began in 2011 and is expected to be completed next year.
