HCM City set for Red Flamboyant campaign

HCM City will launch the 10th Red Flamboyant Campaign for high school students and young teachers at the HCM City Youth Culture House on June 12.

The campaign, to go on until July 12, will feature activities like environmental education, career consultancy, collecting old newspapers and books and visiting historic sites.

It will also have fun lessons to teach children science and programmes to train students in social skills and soldiers and students in the city's 24 districts life experiences.

Mekong forums to connect agriculture sector

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will hold forums for farmers, scientists, companies, and authorities to interact in five districts in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta provinces of Tien Giang, Ben Tre, and Dong Thap between June 8 and 12.

These activities are aimed at strengthening co-operation between farmers, scientists, companies, and government to help farmers save cost and time while learning about new policies and markets.

They will also help farmers learn and apply advanced farming techniques and provide consultancy on agricultural markets and farming techniques.

HCM City district cracks down on businesses

Officials from the HCM City People's Council's Economic and Budget Division on Thursday held a meeting with the District 12 People's Committee to discuss relocation of factories that cause pollution or face a high risk of fires and explosions out of residential areas.

District 12 has 52 such establishments besides thousands of family-based production units that face a high risk of fires.

Last year the district fined 40 establishments more than VND1 billion (US$47,000) for pollution or threatening to cause fires.

HCM City offers free counselling for students

The HCM City Student Support Centre is offering free psychological counselling for students.

The service is available from Monday to Friday every week.
