Cashew export value reaches $635m

Viet Nam exported 85,000 tonnes of cashew worth US$635 million in the first four months of this year, up 14.1 per cent and 36.3 per cent year-on-year respectively, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The average cashew export price was at $7,161 per tonne, up 15.8 per cent year-on-year.

The country's main cashew export markets were the US (32 per cent), China (18 per cent), and the Netherlands (10 per cent).

Thanh Hoa needs hundreds more teachers

The Department of Education and Training in Thanh Hoa Province's Nhu Thanh District said the district needs hundreds of teachers for specific subjects including foreign language, computing, music, art, and sports.

Nguyen Van Len, head of the department said due to the abundance of teachers of other subjects for years, the province banned recruitment for these specific subjects until 2016.

The province needs around 200 teachers for these subjects as well as medical staff and library officers.

Tolls collected on National Highway 1A

The Civil Engineering Construction Corporation No 4 and 319 Corporation started collecting tolls on Sunday at Hoang Mai Toll Station on National Highway 1A in Hoang Mai Hamlet in Nghe An Province.

The tolls range from VND35,000 per journey for vehicles with fewer than 12 seats, to VND180,000 for 18-tonne or more trucks.

The toll collection will help fund the Build-Operate-Transfer project, which expanded the highway from Thanh Hoa Province's Nghi Son District to Nghe An Province's Cau Giat. The 34km highway has an investment of VND3.627 trillion ( US$170 million).
