Deal signed on Mekong power plant

Electricity of Viet Nam has signed an agreement with Vietcombank, Vietinbank, and BIDV for a loan of VND4.5 trillion (US$214.2 million) for building the 4,348MW Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant in Duyen Hai District in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh.

Besides several turbines of 660MW capacity each, a port for importing coal and oil will also be built.

HCM City walking street nearly ready

Workers are giving the finishing touches to Nguyen Hue walking street in HCM City, which is expected to open to the public on April 27, a few days ahead of Liberation Day.

On Monday night the contractors tested fountain No1 at the intersection of Nguyen Hue and Le Loi.

The fountains will operate in harmony with music and lights. Installation of the lighting system has also been completed and is awaiting testing.

HCM City supervises metro construction

Work on the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro route in HCM City was being carefully supervised to ensure quality and completion on schedule in 2019, Bui Xuan Cuong, head of the city's Management Board for Urban Railways, told a recent meeting.

The route is budgeted to cost US$2.49 billion with more than 88 per cent coming from ODA loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

The subway is expected to be used from 2020.
