Vietnam Airlines' flight from HCM City to Hue was delayed by eight and a half hours, but again the carrier did not inform passengers about the exact schedule.

Hoarfrost destroys coffee plantations

Around 700 hectares of coffee crops in Lac Duong District in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, or a fifth of the district's coffee-growing area, were destroyed by hoarfrost last week.

Da Nhim and Dung K'no communes suffered the most, losing 70 per cent of their crops due to their high mountain terrain. The temperature difference between day and night was severe due to the hoarfrost.

Local authorities plan to support farmers' efforts to replant.

City seeks to promote medical insurance

Getting more people to sign up for the voluntary medical insurance programme and reducing the number of patients from outside the city coming to HCM City-based hospitals were the two major issues that a Ministry of Health task force discussed with city authorities last Friday.

Only 69 per cent of HCM City residents have voluntary medical insurance, lower than the national rate of 71 per cent.
