The Hai Duong Industrial Park Management Board has issued investment registration certificates for five foreign direct invested (FDI) projects. Total investment capital for the projects amounts to nearly US$41.5 million.

Binh Phuoc to invest in rural development
The Binh Phuoc People's Committee will spend more than VND3.7 trillion ($173 million) this year under the national programme to develop new rural areas. The south-central province expects to raise the funds from land-use fees.
After five years of implementing the programme, average earnings of rural residents have reached VND39 million per year, and clean water is supplied to 89 per cent of the population.

Kien Giang needs climate change funding
The Kien Giang People's Committee has proposed that the government allocates VND3 trillion ($140 million) to help the southern coastal province fight climate change and prevent landslides. The money will be used for climate change adaptation projects, forest protection and development, and building sea dykes.

MoF supports needy students in rural areas
The Ministry of Finance plans to provide more than VND62.8 billion ($2.9 million) to needy high school students in rural areas in seven northern, central and Tay Nguyen (central highlands) provinces.
Among these, Thanh Hoa Province will receive VND17.7 billion ($827,000), Nghe An, VND16.69 billion ($780,000), and Dien Bien, VND11.5 billion ($537,000).

City spends $6.2m on scientific research
The HCM City Science and Technology Department spent more than VND132 billion ($6.17 million) on 250 scientific research projects in 2014. Nguyen Khac Thanh, deputy director of the department, revealed these figures at a conference on scientific and technological activities held on January 21.
He said the department backed projects in stem cell research and application.
