Fewer women take part in political activities

The number of women in the National Assembly, Party offices and state authorities is at its lowest level in the last four terms of office.

In the National Assembly, the ratio of women is 24.4 per cent, and at the national level, only 11.3 per cent serve in provincial Communist party positions, 15.7 per cent in the district party, and 18.3 per cent in the commune party.

US aims to be leading investor in Viet Nam

The US Ambassador to Viet Nam, Ted Osius, asked Viet Nam to provide a clear and long-term visa policy for American tourists and businesspeople in a meeting with the chairman of HCM City People's Committee, Le Hoang Quan.

He also expected that direct flights between HCM City and California would be established very soon to attract tourists and investors of the two nations.

The Ambassador also believed that the US would be the top investor in Viet Nam in coming years.

Cat Tien Holy Land is special national relic

The Prime Minister has recognised the Cat Tien Holy Land as a special national relic. The area was excavated in 1991 and recognized as a national relic in 1998.

At present, the relic is managed on an area of 10 hectares, with the remaining 70 hectares yet to be excavated. The site is a complex of temples and towers of the 7th and 8th century.
