Firms donate $10m for remote area bridges

Companies on Thursday donated VND218 billion (US$10 million) for building small bridges in remote areas.

The Ministry of Transport estimates around 4,000 such bridges – meant to serve people rather than economic needs — need to be built around the country at a cost of VND8.3 trillion ($400 million).

It is now building 186 in inaccessible places in the northern mountains and central and Central Highlands provinces at a cost of around VND5 billion ($230,000) each.
