More than 17,500 train tickets for the coming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday sold out on websites on December 1, the first day the Viet Nam Railway Corporation started selling tickets online.
Doan Duy Hoach, deputy director general of the corporation, said that passengers used the websites dsvn.vn, vetau.com.vn and vietnamrailway.vn.
The network ran smoothly on the first day it was open and the railway sector did not receive any complaints from passengers.
The Sai Gon Railway Station said it would sell unsold tickets for Tet at the station from December 6.

Garment sector to set export record
Garment and textile export turnover would likely reach US$24.5 billion this year, an increase of more than 19 per cent compared to last year, according to the Viet Nam Textiles and Garment Group.
It would be a record increase over the last three years, said Le Tien Truong, general director. This year, the garment and textile sector is expected to have a trade surplus of US$12 billion.

Tourist arrivals up 12% in Thua Thien- Hue
Over the last 11 months, more than 2.65 million tourists visited the central province of Thua Thien- Hue, an increase of nearly 12 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Over the same period, the number of foreign visitors rose by nine per cent to 935,000.
Over the period, the province's tourism sector earned more than VND2.48 trillion (US$118 million), a year-on-year increase of 15 per cent. The province targets 2.85 million tourists this year.
