Mekong province to carve out new town

The People's Council of the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang on Tuesday approved plans to carve Long My town with four wards out of the crowded Long My District.

The 100-year-old Long My District spreads over an area of 396sq.km, and the size and population make it unwieldy for administrators.

The council also approved new street names for the town as well as for Cay Duong town in Phung Hiep District.
