City allocates $31m for resettlement

The HCM City administration has allocated around VND661 billion (US$31.2 million) for site clearance and resettlement of residents in the outlying districts of Binh Chanh, Nha Be, and Can Gio to build the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway, according to the People's Committee.

Cement sales up 5% in first nine months

Cement sales topped 46.9 million tonnes in the first nine months of the year, an increase of 5 per cent over the same period last year, according to the Viet Nam Cement Industry Corporation.

Exports accounted for 10.3 million tonnes while domestic consumption was 36.6 million tonnes, a rise of 10 per cent year-on-year.

Exports to United States rise 20%

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, exports to the US in September fell 7 per cent from the previous month to $2.39 billion, but were 20 per cent up from the same period last year.

Exports to the US in the year-to-date are up 21 per cent to $20.8 billion, according to the ministry.

Vinh Phuc Province has 14 industrial zones

According to the northern province of Vinh Phuc's Labour Federation, around 14 industrial zones with a total area of nearly 325 hectares have been built in the province at a cost of nearly VND1.29 trillion ($60.6 million).

The zones have attracted 450 projects with a total investment of more than VND1.26 trillion ($59.4 million), of which 281 are operational and have hired more than 7,000 workers.
