City orders District 1 to install traffic cameras

The HCM City People's Committee has instructed District 1 authorities to quickly begin work to install cameras on roads to better monitor traffic and prevent crime. The task is to be completed before Lunar New Year in early 2015.

The committee also instructed other districts to carry out regular checks to prevent people from using pavements for personal purposes.

Export tax scrapped on rubber exports

The Ministry of Finance has waived export tax on some natural rubber with effect from October 2.

The tax rate is 1 per cent.

Dong Thap spends $14m on kindergartens

The Cuu Long (Delta) province of Dong Thap has spent over VND300 billion (US$14 million) to ensure every child attends kindergarten.

The money has been invested in building 134 new classrooms and buying teaching equipment, toys, and computers for kindergartens.

Foreign firms eye airport investment

Many foreign companies are seeking to invest in Long Thanh Airport, according to Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang.

Several of them, like Samsung and Incheon Airport, are from South Korea and Japan. ADPi Group of France wants to directly invest US$500 million and borrow $1 billion from banks.
