Kindergarden teachers get a rise

The HCM City's People's Committee has approved a new policy to support teachers and officials who are working in kindergartens. It will be implemented this school year. The policy aims to attract more teachers.

The salary for teachers and educational officials who are working at state-owned kindergartens will be increased 25 per cent. Those who are teaching children aged six to 18 months will have an additional 35 per cent in salary. New graduates will receive support from 2014-2017.

For this school year, the city has 1,527 new classrooms for kindergartens.

Hai Duong receives $470m in FDI

The northern province of Hai Duong attracted US$470.2 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) capital this year. Of the amount, $336.2 million came from 26 new FDI projects. Fourteen FDI projects had $134 million added to their capital.

The province has 280 FDI projects with total registered capital of more than $3.29 billion.

Performers celebrate Theatre Day

More than 100 popular singers, and movie and cai luong (renovated opera) actors performed in a special show at the HCM City-based Sen Hong Stage yesterday to celebrate National Theatre Day, falling on the 12th day of the eighth lunar month.

A series of music and cai luong performances were also held across the city to celebrate the day.

Camp on climate change starts

A camp called "Bien Doi Khi Hau 2014" (Climate Change 2014) began in Da Nang yesterday. The three-day camp provides participants, mostly young people, knowledge about climate change from environmental experts and speakers, and realistic solutions.

Participants will have opportunities to present their ideas or inventions to businesses and local authorities.
