Thua Thien-Hue raises development funds

In its zoning plan for industrial parks and industrial clusters, central Thua Thien-Hue Province plans to raise VND2.66 trillion (US$125.7 million) to develop infrastructure at IPs. The upgrade is expected to create better conditions for potential investors.

According to the provincial Industrial Parks Authority, the province's industrial parks have attracted more than 110 projects with a total registered capital of more than VND930 billion ($43.8 million).

HCM City to limit use of plastic bags

The HCM City People's Committee has ordered departments and agencies to raise public awareness about the adverse impact of plastic bags and promote the use of disposable bags at supermarkets, traditional markets, residential areas and trade centres.

The municipal government has ordered departments and agencies, People's Committees of districts, production and trading establishments and public welfare services companies to limit the use of plastic bags, replacing them with environmentally-friendly bags.

Fewer flight delays and cancellations

The number of flight delays and cancellations last month fell by 8 per cent and nearly one per cent over the preceding month, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam.

Local airlines operated nearly 15,000 flights last month, said CAAV. Of those 2,057 flights were delayed due to the late return of airplanes, problems with equipment and airport services, and inclement weather.

Jetstar Pacific ranked first in having the most delayed flights, followed by Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airlines.

Vinh Long plans to help locals find jobs

The Mekong Delta Province of Vinh Long has approved a project to provide loans to create jobs for people in the province in the 2014-15 period.

Under the project, each labourer will be able to borrow about VND10 million (US$471) to develop a business or learn a new job skill.

The VND76 billion (US$3.58 million) project is expected to enable about 9,700 poor labourers to find jobs or become self-employed.
