The HCM City People's Committee on Thursday announced that the city spent VND39 billion (US$1.85 million) to organise cultural activities for children and teenagers during the summer holidays.
Hundreds of thousands of children took part in games, contests, and workshops aimed at teaching children the history of the country, moral standards, and living skills.
Hundreds of scholarships, gifts, and books were given to needy children living in city shelters and outlying districts to prepare for the new school year.

Tay Ninh, Long An tie up agricultural deal
The agriculture and rural development departments of Tay Ninh and Long An Provinces have signed a co-operation agreement for agricultural and rural development in 2014-20.

The Ha Noi People's Committee has unveiled plans for online public administration services by 2020.
The city targets offering 15-20 per cent of online public services from the district to ward levels by 2015 and 50 per cent by 2020.

Camp for arts criticism opens in Ha Noi
The Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations of Viet Nam on Thursday began a camp for literature and art criticism in Ha Noi.
The nine-day event at the Museum of Vietnamese Literature has attracted members from central and provincial cultural agencies, and provincial arts and literature associations. It will feature discussions and seminars on criticism chaired by famous writers, poets, and critics like Huu Thinh, Tung Dien, and Ha Minh Duc.
