More tourists visit Quang Binh, Vung Tau

The central province of Quang Binh received more than 1.8 million visitors in the first half of the year, up 144 per cent over the same period last year, with more than 750,000 people visiting the burial site of General Vo Nguyen Giap in the Vung Chua area.

Quang Binh is known for many beautiful scenic spots and cave systems. Son Doong in the province is one of the world's biggest caves.

Ba Ria- Vung Tau Province has received more than 6.9 million visitors this year, up 17 per cent year-on-year, according to the province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The province's earnings from tourism in the first half of this year topped VND1.79 trillion (US$84 million), 23 per cent higher than the same period last year.

Work to begin on $1.6b highway

Construction on the Ben Luc- Long Thanh Highway at the cost of VND31.3 trillion (US$1.6 billion) will start on July 19. The 57.1 km highway will run through Long An Province, HCM City and Dong Nai Province.

Binh Dinh to renovate Phu Cat Airport

A project to upgrade and enlarge Phu Cat Airport in the central province of Binh Dinh was approved in principle by the Ministry of Transport, sources from the province's People's Committee said. The 3,000 sq.m airport will be enlarged to more than 6,000 sq.m.
